I am asked what my flaw is...Well first of all everyone has them, it is what makes us unique and beautiful in our own way.
Well on July 3rd 2005, it was the start of my first summer after High school. Driving my dad and I home from a family visit. About 9 PM and just 10 miles from home I was hit from behind by a drunk driver. 3 weeks later I woke up in a hospital, learning that I lost my father and my hearing due to a traumatic brain injury. I was finally able to come home 4 more weeks later after 2 surgeries to ease the brain swelling. Swelling did go down but still no help with the deafness.
19 years later I have accepted my losses and tried my best to live a normal life. I am still writing the story that is my life, and living each day as it is my last, because it may very well be. I miss being able to hear but I miss my dad even more. Always hold your loved ones tight and never forget to tell them you love them.
